Headline: Obama Signs Defense Bill Despite ‘Serious Reservations’

A friend wrote what I translate to “WTF does ‘serious reservations’ mean? So, liberals think it’s ok now. A law is still a law if you sign it happily or with ‘serious reservations,” concerning President Barack Obama’s signing of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012. I believe the first question is sort of rhetorical, so I will leave it at that.

The Liberals Part

‘Serious reservations’ is to show his supporters that he is on their side, yet it is something that must be done. And, as he says a lot of times, “Tough decisions need to be made.” But, it is so true; No matter what ridiculous things this guy does, has done, or will do, his supports will support him despite their own self-interests or interests of most people. This happens with other people who have supporters as well. It’s part of being a hero; you get away with the most ridiculous bullshit. Because, it seems people are not about principles and ideas, they are about principals (a chief or head) and idols.

‘A Law Is Still A Law…’

“A law is still a law if you sign it happily or with ‘serious reservations.’” And, that is the point. There is much to say about this, which plays significantly into the entire realm of politics and how politicians — and particularly candidates — are viewed. So many different ideas, good and bad, contribute to laws. Considering that fact, supporting or a law, bill or act puts one in a position where they are siding both in favor of something they are against and against something they are for. It primarily comes down to where you place those ideas on the ‘level of importancte scale.’ It would seem that Barack Obama believed indefinite military detention of American citizens was a small price to pay to authorize a standing military to dominate and kill around the world.

The president has already made indefinite detention part of his doctrine through his handling of Guantanamo Bay. I just wonder where all of the hype was when he was around the world actually ASSASSINATING American citizens, such as Anwar al-Awlaki and his son.

WASHINGTON — Indefinite military detention of Americans became the law of the land Saturday, as President Barack Obama signed a defense bill that codified that authority, even as he said he would not use it.

The National Defense Authorization Act states how the military is to be funded, but also includes a number of controversial provisions on arresting and holding suspected terrorists, which at first drove Obama to threaten a veto.
